Barbara Ingrassia is a Wilderness Guide and Risk Manager; she guides people through the murky ooze that is COPYRIGHT in the Digital Age…around the potholes…around the quicksand—that can suck the life out of a business, organization, or project. It’s so easy to search, copy, paste, send—without giving a thought to who owns the rights to that content. (This is especially true with images.) This use can put a group at RISK for charges of copyright infringement—use of content without permission. Such charges can result in expensive litigation—the loss of time, money, and reputation. In addition to being CONSUMERS of copyright-protected content, we are all CREATORS of original content—which we want to protect. As a Certified Copyright Manager, Ingrassia can review marketing materials, websites, licenses, draft Best Practices/ Risk Management /Permission policies, train staff or clients. Awareness of “Copyright Basics” is a form of “insurance” to protect us as we consume and create original content. Ingrassia offers one-on-one consultations, workshops, and seminars. She brings some FUN to the journey through the murky ooze with the message: MANAGE Copyright. Don’t let it manage You.℠
I’m a professional indexer and owner of Endswell Indexing since 2006. I work with publishers, editors, book designers, and authors to create indexes for non-fiction books.
My approach with my clients is collaborative, working with them to create the best possible final product. I take the time to understand who the prospective audiences are for a book so I can be sure to address their various perspectives as I create the entries for the index. This level of attention results in indexes that meet the needs of the readers, thus enhancing their reading experience and increasing the value of the book.
Subject areas in which I have special interest and expertise include music, animal behavior (particularly dog training and behavior), astronomy, business management and operations, health and wellness, self-help, antique and classic cars, and trains and railroading.
I am a freelance writer and editor specializing in the natural sciences. I help authors, researchers, and biotechnology companies produce effective, high-quality writing. I have the ability to clarify complex ideas and adapt writing to the intended audience and purpose. Depending on the needs of each project, I edit for grammar, style, clarity, organization, readability, and impact. See what I can do for you!
