Smokestack gathering benefits Worcester County Food Bank

The holidays are an especially challenging time for families, the elderly and others struggling to get by — and The Communicators Club is seeking your generosity to help feed our region’s less fortunate.

Indulge in the spirit of the season through the return of our Holiday Social & Food Drive, which benefits Worcester County Food Bank. The event runs from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at Smokestack Urban Barbecue, 139 Green St., Worcester.

In addition to heaping helpings of Smokestack’s famed fare, event-goers will score social time and networking possibilities.

Above all, attendees who bring nonperishable food items will aid Worcester County Food Bank’s mission to ensure that no family or person in need goes without nourishing, nutritious meals.

See the accompanying graphic for a list of appropriate and most-in-need food items. Please encourage your friends and colleagues to attend this special event. The more, the merrier!

About WCFB

One of three Feeding America member food banks in Massachusetts, Worcester County Food Bank is dedicated to engaging, educating, and leading Central Massachusetts in creating a hunger-free community.

WCFB partners with others – food and fund donors, volunteers, business and community leaders – to provide donated food to neighbors who need it. Last year, WCFB and its network of 115 local pantries and community meal programs helped to distribute nearly 6.1 million pounds of donated food to 75,000 people from all 60 cities and towns in Worcester County.

That’s enough for 5.1 million meals!

The organization also advocates for growing support for policies and programs that decrease hunger and increase access to healthy food.

Please join The Communicators Club on Dec. 3 to partake in the spirit of the season, mingle with your fellow communications professionals, and ease the burden of hunger. We look forward to seeing you!
