Public speaking can be a daunting task for the best of us, but engaging oration isn’t just an innate skill.
Join The Communicators Club from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4 as our guest presenter, Paul Julian of the Central Toastmasters Club discusses strategies to overcome podium fright and knock your next (or first) talk out of the park.
The presentation will take place at Bancroft School Field House, 100 Shore Drive, Worcester. A light lunch will be served, including vegetarian options.
Julian, a retired assistant at University of Massachusetts Medical School’s Lamar Soutter Library, spent 35 years at that institution. He has been involved with Toastmasters International for 16 years, and currently belongs to two Worcester-based Toastmasters clubs: Central Toastmasters and Seven Hills Advanced Toastmasters.
With a heritage stretching back 115 years, Toastmasters International’s mission is concise: “We empower individuals to become more effective communicators and leaders.” Paul credits the organization with improving his performance in both categories – with his lone regret being that he didn’t discover Toastmasters earlier in his working life.
Since joining Toastmasters in 2003, he’s earned its Advanced Communicator Bronze Award and competed in several speaking contests within the organization.
Paul looks forward to sharing those Toastmasters experiences with his TCC audience. The discussion is sure to provide pointers for all attendees to improve their public-speaking abilities and better engage their audiences.
